Going home

Sweaty hands stuck to a glass door.
Palms pressed against the steadily mistyifying and demystifying canvas.
A whizz past reality.
Eyes that cringe to avoid yellow glare, and in a blink, open to soak in wonder.
A gasp, and an intake.

"Yeh darwaaze apne aap kyun khul rahe hai? Hum raat hone se PEHLE pahuch jayenge!?"

Then the doors slide shut, and Papa gently pushes her open jaw upward.
And the Metro races ahead, only to be engulfed by another hollow serpentine station.

Man! You can make a metro sound exciting. People will read it and sound like 'O! My God! A METRO.
M-E-T-R-O!!!!!!'

P.S. - Prerhu thinks it really IS exciting...

Lol, Kritika's right. And that sweaty-hand part was so true.

P.S- Does she, really? :O

Kika : LOL, but it is! Perspective, madame. =P
And Prerhu, well. More the scarcity, more the demand. =P Don't worry, Prerhu honey, just the matter of two years. =P

Aanchal : Too much rush, no? =P And wow, I see resurgence. Much glad. =D

How do you guys [gals?] survive writing only two line posts? :S

Btw, traveling in Mumbai locals for 5 years has really put me off trains.. metro or TGV. :(

Vasudha said...

Geek Wrestler : Its eight. Hmph. And its called verbal dehydration. =P

But the Metro's not a train, its a time capsule of worlds. =D

Metro! I've traveled in it like twice. And you make me miss it. Bleh. :(

Send this to Aaj tak or Live India or something. At least they'll do some metro publicity. Chaar din se they've been sticking to the same news that metro construction ka ek part kisi chalti gaadi pe gir gaya and all. :-/

//Then the doors slide shut, and Papa gently pushes her open jaw upward// The father has been referred to by using 'her' over here?
Or u are talking about the metro?

P.s.-Don't make me read what u write in school before u have posted it.U will only be bringing the level of your writing down because i can't understand most of the things pple write!

@ Akanksha : The little girl's open jaw is being pushed upward by the Papa, therefore the "her". :P
Right, V?

@ The post & The V : Once again, you've written something completely different, yet strikingly familiar. You really like the Metro, don't you? :P And you sure as hell, travel a lot in it! Aiiight? Anyway, nice one! Can't wait for the next post!

Metro has suddenly become my life. I'm almost travelling up and down twice a day. And somehow I find it beautiful. Yeah, that's the word. Nice post :D

Sharp.

To me, it's not the train it self but the station. Something of a time capsule in reverse.

Vasudha said...

Ish : Easy solution to that. Come to Dilli. =P

No need, they've just hit gold, pun intended. =P

Prerna : Nah, I usually travel on the Metro alone.
Thanks. =)
Yes, see? I learnt how to spell. =P

Aku : Refer to Dish's comment. The kid is the her.
And lol, you just reminded me. I have to -start- that. :|

Disha : Yup, D. And yeah, but its getting repetitive, innit? The traveling is inevitable though. And not too much a pain. =P

Geek Wrestler : Yeah, have a reverse online personality. Too verbose in reality. =P

Lol, point taken.

Aku : Go, you? =P

Sneezy Melon : That's the word. =) Though its getting too packed now. Could give DTC buses a complex. =|

Nik : Yeah, the station's another place to just sit and stare. Bah, I'd love any place as long as it was outside the house. =|

Right, so all I can think of now is that inane poem we had in the 8th called Leisure.
//No time to sit underneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep or cows.//

Jeez.
