Yes, a post!

[Alright, so that makes it sound like I think that you think that I think I am overly excited at a new post, right? Well, if you got that, and you think so, then yep, I am!]

So Shruti tagged me, and here goes nothing!
The Rules:

Link to the person that tagged you.

Post the rules on your blog.

Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

#1
I like classifying my songs. I have long-car-drives songs [Strings], 12 AM songs [Coldplay], songs for a particularly Ima-do-what-I-want day [Old Bon Jovi stuff, think Dead or Alive, or Blaze of Glory] et al. I actually got up today at 6 [in the morning for a change], got my iPod, arranged my hair in a suitably wild manner, and put on my best rocker on a mission sneer. Then I plugged in the earphones, played You Give Love a Bad Name, and did the whole on-stage routine in front of my bathroom mirror, singing shouting along, until my Mum started banging on the door. It was to beat, so I thought she was probably being appreciative of my performance. Until she barged in and said she'd thwack me hard if I didn't quit it. Sigh. I shall remain an undiscovered musical genius.

[And yes, digression shall live as long as I am alive.]

#2
I hate typing out things. I can never think of things to say when I'm typing. Most of my posts are first written out at night, proof read, typed out, and posted. Give me a black pen [Black is important] and a notebook, and I'll fill it up and return it within the hour. Talk to me online, and you'll be waiting for fifteen minutes to get a reply from me. My lack of conversational skills online are second only to my complete uselessness on the phone.

#3
I can happily spend an entire hour doing nothing but listening to music and reading.
In the bathroom.

#4
I hate stepping on the edges of tiles. I like to walk one foot bang in the middle of one tile, next foot on the opposite adjacent tile on top when I'm walking on tiled floors. Stepping on the lines is a cardinal sin.

#5
I don't know if this is weird, but no one else I know admits to it. I really like going to school. Okay, so it is weird. But I don't know, I like the place. I've never taken leave unless I could help it, or if I have, it was only so I didn't get the nerdy looking 100% certificate. Maybe its something to do with the fact that the school magazine has articles titled "The Ultimate Guide To Handle Post Break-up Blues." Go, freedom of creative expression! :D

#6
I think this tag is an oxymoronish tag. How can I write six non important things about myself? If its about me, its important! :D
More important stuff then, because I think the blog is looking quite dreary, and well, I feel like putting up some snaps. There, no more justification required.
[In case you're wondering, I also suffer from having an incredibly bloated up self image, though I sometimes swing to self deprecating too]

I like photography, or whatever little I can do of it with my ancient 3.2 megapixel camera.

Enough fodder for a day, I guess. And I tag :

You posted! :O

Strings is really great for long car journeys and Moby too. I agree with you on the Coldplay part too. I generally listen to Coldplay when I spend the night perched upon the windowsill. As for Bon Jovi... to each his/her own I guess. I do like some of their old stuff but still... :P I prefer The Sex Pistols or Led Zeppelin when I feel rebellious.

My mother sings at home all the time and she keeps telling me to loosen up and sing when I want to. I only sing when I'm alone at home.

I hate writing stuff. I type out almost everything except poetry. Poetry is first jotted down in a little black spiral bound notebook with a pencil, faired out with a blue Parker Roller Ball (fine point) and then made into an RTF file. Everything else is directly typed into Wordpad.

I read in the bathroom, I listen to music in the bathroom. Hell, I've caught up on sleep in the bathroom.

This is weird, I thought I was the only person who hated stepping on the edges of tiles. O_o Also, I compulsively skip a tile when placing the next step. I only step on an adjacent tile in the diagonal direction or else skip a tile.

I detest school.

Nice picture. Some years ago an aunt who was visiting us gave me a disposable camera. I woke up at 4 in the morning everyday for over a week to take a picture of the perfect sunrise. I took a picture alright. But I forgot to hand it in for developing in time and the picture came out really fuzzy. :|

And lastly

Yay! I've been tagged! O_o

After reading the first line, I decided to quit thinking. Such a waste of time. :P

#1 - I classify my songs too. I have playlists titled "Happy" which basically contains chirpy stuff, "Sad/Mushy/In Love" which contains Coldplay. But I like your classification of Coldplay better. They are indeed 12AM songs. I actually went to sleep while listening to them one night and the iPod kept blaring the songs till the battery finished.

#2 - Why black? Do you also wear black eyeshadow, eyeliner and stuff when you're writing? 'Cause if you are going for the goth look, a black pen just won't suffice. :P

And you're not bad with your online skills. You're pretty good when it comes to Facebook. And as far as messenger is concerned, if you are talking to a guy, you don't need to worry about the time you take to reply because he will wait forever. That's how we guys are. You can go eat food, party, come back and then reply and the guy will still be as enthusiastic as ever. :P

#3 - All great inventions are made in the bathroom. Why do you think the guy who invented the bulb invented it? Because he was having trouble concentrating in the bathroom in the dark! :P

#4 - You've got a very mathematical/calculated way of walking. I'd get confused if I thought that much. When you accidentally step on a tile edge, do you go - "Shit yaar, tile edge pe pair rakh diya, ab to din ka satyaanaas ho gaya. Guruji ne kaha tha tile edge se bachke rehna" :P

#5 - It depends. Okay, I can't lie. How can you love school? Isn't there even one teacher you absolutely hate?

#6 - I've got a 4.0 megapixel camera! I just had to say that 'cause I'm really sick of seeing people having 6.0, 7.2 and 10.0 megapixel camera's while I live on a 4 megapixel one. My phone has a 2 megapixel camera as well. Adds upto 6 megapixels that way. :P

When I had gone to take a picture with my teachers, my old "camera-savvy" math teacher asked me what the resolution of my camera was. When I told him it was 2 megapixels, you should have seen the look on his face. It was looking as if he was thinking I'm gonna make him look bad 'cause I don't have one of those atrociously high resolution cameraphones. Thinks he's Aishwarya Rai or something. :|

i hate typing too...half of my posts just lie on my desktop=my 'desk's top...not my computer.

i had that tile obsession as a kid. sadly, i grew out of it.

i liked school till 10th and then i got bored.

i like ur blog, esp the shimmery header

i can also never think while typing..
when i have a pen in hand, the words just seem to flow.

oh and, "self-deprecating" sometimes, my ass.. u have an ego nearly as big as mine anything to the contrary is a joke.

oh and thanks for he bloody tag (hope the sarcasm didnt escape ur neglected brain)
[i dont know 6 bloggers]

oye! this isnt right. do all of u have some odd quirk when it comes to writing?
i can write anywhere (i generally end up doing so on a napkin in a restaurant or on in my text book during school hours...)
damn.

concerning the tiles...i dunno why that happens to u....i mean, how would the world be affected if u step out of the lines!!! and i agree on the oxymoron thingy....
and also, the typing fact...uh...okay...we discussed that...

lovely reading this tag...you have done it very nice along with the very beautifully captured shot...have a nice time!

Bharat : Should give Moby a try then. The only time I get to hear Led Zep or the Sex Pistols is when my dad is driving. Actually, I get to hear him then. :P
Oh, and I finally got a classification for Keh Lene Do! Its a Sitting-on-a-Rocking-Chair-in-an-Unlit- Room-and-Humming-Softly-to-Yourself-with- Your-Eyes-Closed song! Ditto Guncha. :D

My mum sings all the while too. I keep on telling her to stop, she's the worst singer in the family. I'm second worst, so she's the only one I can bully there. :P Singing with people is a lot of fun, especially when there are loads of fun, its easier to camouflage mistakes. Oh no, she went off key!

Ah, so poetry gets special treatment then? Wordpad gives me headaches >.<

How do you sleep in a bathroom?! More importantly, where?!?!

Oh yeah, I skip tiles if the tiles are these huge horizontal slabs. It makes it tough when there are these gigantic tiles, though. That's my cue to say, "Screw it" and get on with life :P

I know. :P

Lol, you shouldn't have a problem with retries, considering the sleeping habits and all. In my opinion, though, the perfect sunrise has already been taken. Here and here. Tough luck, kid. :P

Since you're a major Coldplay buff, that means you listen to them most of the time. Which implies you're sad/mushy/in love most of the time. I'm on the right track, right? :P I slept on Coldplay once too. By the time I got up, my playlist had gone quite ahead, and I woke up at 3 to "Sihhhx, six, six, the number of the beast!" I slept fitfully after that. :P

#2
Nah, black is good for doodling, and I do that a lot while I write. Blue is very schoolworkish, and red creeps me out because of the whole teacher thing. Goth looks are only for when I'm in public. I like to creep out people :P

I'm alright with Facebook only because it lets me reply at will. :D And I'd rather have proper dialogues. Most guys are thick. :P

#3
Haha!

#4
Nah, I only do that when I'm bored enough to not have any other form of amusement. :P Its just a hopscotch hangover, really. :D

#5
Well, yeah. But there are more that I don't. And anyway, school's not just teachers, is it? :)

#6
Ah, so you can gloat further. My cell had a VGA 1 camera. Lovely, I so suck. o.O :P

Thinks he's Aishwarya Rai or thinks he's the Eco teacher? :P

KotK : w00t, so I finally find someone who hates typing too! :D Though I'd recommend you get all of those posts typed out real soon ; I've noticed what I write and what I type are two diametrically different things. I'd like to read some of that stuff then :)

Right-o, so I have one more year to get bored of school then. Let's see.

Thanks, I like the shimmery header too. Makes up for the content anyway :P

Nik : So you're implying that when I think I'm being self deprecating, I actually am not, which means I'm actually being quite realistic when it comes to follies? Jeez. I'm not that bad >.<
:P

Oh, and I write a lot during tuitions. Once I got sick of all my own stuff, so I started writing down emo lyrics. Creeped out two poor souls sitting next to me. :P

Sukanya : Okay, I'll concede there. I am pretty bad on the phone, though, all I do is go mhmm. Good for you. :P "People", btw? :P

Disha : Er..?! Why not?

Lasha : Yeah, we discussed it all. At length. And yep, I'm a super bitch. :D

Flyingstars : Thank you! Can't say much about the nice time really. Loads of pending work. 0_0

I have many Sitting-on-a-Rocking-Chair-in-an-Unlit-Room songs because I often do that. Terminal Frost remains most popular in that category, another favourite is O Janae Waale. And yeah, Keh Lene Do fits into that category too. I don't have Guncha on my HDD, have to listen to it online. One of these days Ima have to fire up Limewire and download Silk Route stuff. I keep putting it off. >.<

Poetry gets special treatment only because I am incapable of typing out poetry directly. Poetry doesn't come to me unless I'm jotting it down on paper. Prose would get the same treatment if I wrote it down before typing it out. it's mainly ebcause I tend to edit alot of stuff and writing it down directly with a pen makes it really messy. And howcome Wordpad gives you headaches!? It's the best word processor I've ever used. It isn't as heavy as MS Word but at the same time it has all the basic formatting features unlike Notepad. Also it doesn't have Word's tendency to save the blank spaces in your file along with the text thereby creating huge files.

There are two approaches to sleeping in the bathroom that I employ.

1. Sneak in a stool or chair, sleep perched upon it.

2. Pull down the toilet seat cover. Sit. Sleep.

I don't bother with the huge tiles either. That's just too much. :P

I don't have a camera currently. The digicam is with my father and he's in Mumbai currently and there is no way I'm using the camera on my mother's phone. :|

Those two pictures are awesome but mine would have turned out much better if it hadn't gotten fuzzy. I waited for a little bit after sunrise so the visibility was somewhat better and the landscape wasn't shrouded in darkness. :P

*eyes bulge* *outraged expression* Kid!? KID!!??

Vasudha said...

Anonymous : [No random names doing it for you then? :P]

Yeah, O Janae Waale will definitely fit in nicely there, with the whole aura going for it. Limewire happens to hate Silk Route, btw. All you'll get it Dooba Dooba. :|

Wordpad gives me headaches because of the sole reason that its not paper. :P I can't use any word processor. If I'm offline, maybe. If I'm online and typing out something simultaneously, the result is more puke worthy than emo poetry. :P

Ah, innovative. Catching up on sleep in class is easier. :D

The silhouettes in the photograph are what I like, actually. I think it gives them a nice contrast. It was taken during a school trip to Shimla, after we talked the whole night long. So, by the time it was 4, we were all groggy and ready to take any speck of orange that could be seen. :P

Sorry, Uncleji. :D :P

ishmeet said...

#1: Nah, not these days. I've not listened to Coldplay since at least two weeks before the exams started. Actually, I haven't listened to only Kabira, Shaam Tanha and Jeet Lenge Yaar over the past couple of weeks. I guess I should listen to Coldplay today, Physics was really bad. :|

#2: Right, black is good for doodling. I like alternate colours actually. Red and Green can be pretty cool sometimes, especially when you are drawing ray diagrams and shit. You can sit for hours admiring your ray diagram and when it comes in the exam, all you'll remember is the colours you had used. The rays? Who needs 'em? :P

#5: You're right. School is not just teachers. I wish it could be everything except bad teachers though.

#6: Been there, done that, had a VGA camera and clicked shitty pictures with it. Nokia 6600 is easily the worst phone on the planet. Price wise it's pretty cool but size wise, it's ridiculous.

Weren't you supposed to buy a new phone btw?

And he can think he's anybody. Both Ash and Eco teacher are pretty. Both have husbands over 6 feet tall. He can think he's anybody, at the end of the day, he's just like Satish Shah from Main Hoon Na. Only Satish Shah is a decent looker. This guy looks bad and spits even worse.

@Anonymous Bharat: Try Cooltoad. It seems to be having some Silk Route songs..4 or 5 of them

Ishmeet :
#1: I was in school today when they gave out the Physics question paper. From the looks of it, no one was really happy with it, so they might go easy with the marking. :)

#2: Haha, why draw ray diagrams when you can destroy caricatures of your lovely teachers? :P

#5: Read above. :D

#6: I did get a new-old phone. Its an er..6600 :P I'm using it till next week. Might get my dad's N91 then. That'll be great, its a freaking brick that doesn't fit into any pockets. >.<
I will get a new phone, though. Eventually.

He's aiming for a six feet plus husband then? :P

ishmeet said...

#1: I genuinely hope they go easy on the markings 'cause if they don't, I'm gonna have to drop for an year and maybe even give a compartment paper. Doesn't sound really cool.

#2: I once wrote a rather poem about my history teacher in my 8th grade. Best part was that I was passing it on in her own period. Somehow she caught hold of it, called the class teacher, created a big drama, slapped me, called my parents, complained to the principal and almost got me expelled. My ass was saved because almost all the teachers also disliked her and hence she couldn't go far. But I had a bad year. That day onwards I decided that I'm not gonna "write/draw" anything about my teachers. As they say in the movies, "You've got the right to remain silent, anything you say can be used as evidence against you in the court". Hence, ray diagrams.

#6: Uhh, 6600. How do you even deal with that thing man. Having owned it for 3 years, I wouldn't even wanna see it's face again. That's why I'm against Nokia phones you know..agreed they are sturdy and have long battery life but they are unnecessarily huge and bulky and don't ever fit in the jeans' pockets.

N91 isn't bad actually. If nothing else, it has shitloads of memory in which you can store many songs. Doesn't exactly double up as an iPod but is still decent enough.

ishmeet said...

Oh.. and I don't know if he's aiming for a 6 feet plus husband. He's gay already so he might as well get one. There's an old Maths teacher of mine that he can marry. We used to call that Maths teacher "beedi" because he was as thin as a beedi. So that guy and this chemistry guy would make one helluva couple.

The Keeper of the Keys said...

nah i absolutely love the content in here.
and you're right abt the typing. i oughta be more regular.

burf said...

#3 - it's hightime you get a bath :P

Vasudha said...

Ishmeet :
#1: I reckon they will. Most our teachers admit the Phy paper was way tougher than usual, so they said the marking would have to be lenient unless they're aiming to flunk a major chunk of the people. So, yeah, that's cool :)

#2: You can sue for physical harassment y'know. :P And hey, write poems, but in the confines of your home. And then, bulk mail. :D

#6: That's the biggest problem, I need to carry it around everywhere! So when I'm usually going to tuition, I have my books in one hand, and the phone in the other. Attempting to change a song on the iPod usually results in all of the above falling on the road. :|

I don't mind the N91. Only thing is that its huger. :|

Oh, great. You guys can dance to Beedi at their wedding then. :P

KotK : You do?! Sometimes when I'm rereading my old stuff, the first thing I think is, "Omg, I was such a jerk." :| Thanks anyway :)

And I should be the last person lecturing about being regular :|

Burf : LOL, I do. Just put it off until as long as possible. :P Thanks for visiting, btw! :)

ishmeet said...

#1: I genuinely hope it's that way. Because if I manage to pass, I'll go into mass communication or journalism or something. I finally convinced my mum and dad on that that I don't wanna become an engineer. Though I have this sinking feeling that my dad knows about my blog. :|

#2: No, I can't write poems. I've tried millions of times but it just doesn't come. And that thing wasn't a real poem anyway. I had just replaced some words of a jingle in a cartoon show. If you ever watched Pokemon, it was the jingle Team Rocket used. And I was dumb then, never thought about the physical harassment part. And moreover, my parents thought I was wrong since they are teachers themselves so no use suing her. I don't want my own parents to testify against me in the court. :|

#3: I can feel your pain, I've had that happen with me as well. Their size precisely is the reason why I don't like Nokia. They are very inconvenient. And the sad part is that Nokia doesn't wanna realise that, the new phones are as huge as the old ones.

The only good thing about Nokia that I've been able to figure out is that even if you do throw them around, they don't really break. And it's easy to buy them pirated bodies and make your phone look like new. That doesn't happen with Motorola, Sony Ericsson etc.

Vasudha said...

Ishmeet :
#1 : Maybe your Dad knowing about your blog is a good thing. 100+ comments would be a very strong point in favor of your taking up journalism. :) And I'm always right then. Last Chem paper it was. :D

#2 : I've heard the Hindi version of the jingle, does that count? :P Your parents wouldn't testify against you, don't think so. You'd be raking in quite a bit of dough, if that helps. :P

#3 : I knowww. :( But Ima get another phone as soon as I decide which one to buy. The deciding part is playing truant. :|

ishmeet said...

#1: I know, but it's not such a good thing. I've written loads of shit in there after all. I wouldn't want him to read that. But he keeps putting "blogging" and stuff in quite a few of his sentences these days. That's what is scaring the shit out of me.

#2: The Hindi version is what I'm talking about. That was the inspiration of my poem. I'll try to remember it and then I'll tell you.

#3: I can feel you. I've been in that situation and there's another friend who's in that situation. The guy has been to every damn mobile shop in his area but he still can't make up his mind. Technology and prices make things so difficult. You can never be sure if you're making the right choice. Go ahead and check out the phones and you'll know which one. As they say in the movies, "Man don't choose the phone, the phone chooses the man". So when the phone chooses you, it'll start passing cheesy comments. That's when you'll know that this is the one for you. :P

Vasudha said...

Ishmeet :
#1: Maybe its just plain Mentionitus. Or because of the sudden obsession news channels have with blogs. If its that, then its just a phase, you needn't worry. My mum keeps on googling up my name, btw. :| And she lands up here then. Sigh, Ima have to edit a lot of stuff.

#3: LOL, yeah, it'll reach out to me in a slow motion Bolly run too, won't it? :P

ishmeet said...

My dad does that too. He keeps Googling my name, that's why I'm scared. Though I was really lucky that Ishmeet Singh won Voice of India. Now, the first three pages of Google results are full of him. And I don't think my dad bothers to go beyond that. If he does, I wonder what he does in the office. I mean searching for your kid's name and then checking out so many results implies extreme boredom.

Yeah definitely, you'll do the slow motion bollywood run. And then you'll notice that it will have some kind of a mark on it's body and you'll have the same on yours. And then you'll run towards him and shout "Pyaare!" and he will shout "Pyaari!" and then both of you will collide and the phone will break. Obviously then you'll have to buy it. :P

Vasudha said...

Ishmeet : Yeah, plus there is no other way to spell your name [I think :S] so, there'll be even more results. With my name being already a pretty uncommon one, and no celeb help, AND the last name having at least six variations, its an easy task for my mum. The first hit is my blog :|
Which reminds me, I still haven't edited. O.o

Lol, but then I'll have to go over the rigmarole all over again, can't stay with a broken phone. Itna pyaar kaise dhoondhoongi yaar? :P

ishmeet said...

Yea, I don't think there's any other way to spell my name. But my name is fairly uncommon too. It's just by chance that a certain Ishmeet Singh decided to enter into a singing competition and all the Punjabi's decided ki isko toh jitaana hi hai..after all, izzat ka sawaal hai. Ironically, my board exam centre is the very school that Ishmeet Singh studied in.

And yea, your name is uncommon too. You are the only Vasudha I know, but I know other Wadhera's too. Most of them have this spelling only don't they?

Pyaar milega jaani. Quoting what SRK said to Deepika in OSO - Tumhe duniya ki har khushi milegi, bas haath badhaakar toh dekho. So yeah, haath badhaao, phone milega. Par zyada over-do mat karna nahi to bhikaari lagegi. :P
